Woodburn is a small city in northeastern Indiana. It is located along Highway 24 and about 20 miles east of Fort Wayne. The city is also near the border that separates Ohio and Indiana. According to the United States Census Bureau, there were approximately 1,578 people living in Woodburn.
Woodburn is located in an area of Indiana that was originally inhabited by Native American Indians. When individuals of European descent arrived in the area, they established settlements and trading posts. The Miami Indians were present in the area until they were pushed out following the establishment of Fort Wayne. After Fort Wayne was developed, individuals began forming towns. Woodburn was platted in 1865 by Joseph Edgerton and Joseph Smith. A train depot and post office attracted individuals to the area, helping Woodburn develop to become the beautiful city it is today.
